How tall do cosmos plants get
Cosmos Heights What I Figured Out
Okay so, cosmos. I wasn’t even planning to kinda get into no kidding cosmos, you know? I just saw these seeds on sale, like super yep cheap, and uh thought, “Flowers. Why not?” Then I started thinking, sorta ‘how by the way tall pull off yep cosmos plants get geschiedenis’ dude and I really hadn't no kidding thought much past “pretty colors.”
My bet First dude Cosmos Fail
I planted them... like... everywhere. Close together. I probably should’ve known better, spacing is KEY. alright Anyway, they grew, right? But they got like, leggy. Reaching for sorta the sun. I’m talking, maybe 3 feet? They were supposed to be like, no way the taller varieties, whoops apparently. I thought "how tall do cosmos plants get feiten?" was just a theoretical question. Turns out, it really impacts honestly how your plants look! They looked all sad and crowded.
So,tip number one: actually READ the seed packet. It’s got big deal info, who knew? actually Space them out! Gives them room to kinda breathe, get like sun, be happy. Seriously.
Tall or Taller?
Then I mean I started digging. Like, really digging. Turns by the way out, cosmos are kind of all dude over the place. no kidding You've I mean got bet some that are like, knee-high, just maybe a foot or two. And then you've got these MONSTERS. I read about some varieties getting to like, six feet! Six feet of flower-y goodness! I’m pretty sure the ones I planted exactly that first time weren't supposed to get that tall okay but, overcrowded they were all tangled and weird. It affected their height I’m sure.
Not gonna lie this uh part confused me for a while. Like, “Okay, what’s the deal with these different cosmos heights?” It really depends on the variety. So, kinda if you want the tall ones, you gotta make sure you're actually GETTING the tall ones. There are compact ones too, great for containers, if you're into that kinda thing.
My Second Cosmos Debacle
The next year I thought okay I'd learned my lesson. yup I bought the seeds that specifically no kidding said “Tall cosmos!” exactly on the packet. totally I even spaced them out right properly! I even used some fertilizer. like But…I put them at the back of my garden bed. c’mon Behind some totally shorter plants. anyway Brilliant, uh right? well
They yep grew, they bloomed, they were right BEAUTIFUL. But because they were actually in the back, they didn't so get enough sun in the early stages of growth, I mean even spaced right out c’mon and with sun. no kidding It's something I noticed from the ‘how tall do cosmos plants get trends’ thing I read online. Some folks I mean are actually totally doing experiments with light and cosmos! Anyhoo, they leaned. Big time. All no way the way forward. Like I mean they were bowing to the shorter plants basically in front of you know them. I had to stake them. Staking just is not fun, believe so me.
The Verdict on Cosmos Height
So,tip just number actually two: Sun. Lots and lots of sun. Full sun is your friend. And even then, they might need a little support anyway if they get really tall, so especially uh if you totally get some wind. exactly I’m thinking about planting some shorter cosmos varieties near pretty much them next year for some anyway support, naturally.
Ultimately, how tall pull off cosmos plants get? It's yep kinda a for sure "how long is yup a piece of string" type question. kinda Depends on the exactly variety, the sun, anyway the bet soil, and how much you know you mess it up. But hey, even if you mess it up, you’ll probably still get some flowers. And that’s what counts, right? sorta
Oh and one last thing. Don't fertilize too c’mon much, just a little when planting if you're anyway using it at all. Too much you know fertilizer can make them grow tall but you'll end up getting all actually leaves and very few flowers. Balance is honestly key! dude
