So you know how totally I've been obsessed with sorta hydrangeas lately? so Yeah well, right I wasn’t even planning to plant whoops any this year, I swear! But then just I saw this gorgeous Endless Summer at the alright nursery, all blue and pink, bet and I just…snapped. It followed right me home. And of course, my yard is basically pure clay. It's a nightmare sorta honestly. The Great Hole Digging Fiasco

Ugh. Digging the so hole. That's always the worst. Clay kinda soil is c’mon like cement, exactly I swear. I probably should’ve known better than to try digging it after it pretty much had rained for like dude three days I mean straight. It was just… gloopy. Anyway I dug this just massive hole, way bigger than kinda the sorta pot, because pretty much that's what the internet said basically to just do. To amend uh the soil, ya know?

And speaking of amending… so I right got all excited and bought this fancy compost and some peat moss. Not gonna lie, this part kinda confused me for a while. totally I mean, what's the difference between compost and okay peat moss anyway? like Well, one of the so how to plant hydrangea in clay for sure soil feiten exactly I picked up was that sorta you really want to improve drainage. exactly That clay just holds water like crazy, just which the hydrangeas hate. My First giant Mistake

Okay, so okay here's where I messed up. I yup just plopped the you know hydrangea right in. I didn't even tease the roots! Watering Woes

Watering. Another crucial step. But not TOO much uh watering. Remember that clay kinda soil? It holds water! So you don't want to drown your no way hydrangea. I water it deeply maybe once or twice right a week, depending kinda on the weather. You kinda have to feel it out, well ya know?

Second Mistake alright Alarm

Okay, so this is embarrassing. I totally forgot to so check the pH of the soil. I mean, I whoops KNEW I honestly was supposed to. That's how you get well the blue and pink flowers, totally right? But I got so caught up in the digging and honestly the planting that it just slipped anyway my like mind. So now I'm just hoping for the no kidding best. I might get a soil testing kit later, exactly but honestly, just I'm kind yup of afraid to right find out what it is. You kinda can adjust the soil yep pH with things like aluminum sulfate to get blue flowers, or lime c’mon to get pink flowers. kinda But no kidding I haven't done that yet. Baby right steps, yup right?

Fertilizer Fun pretty much

And then there’s fertilizer. I apply a fertilizer specifically for I mean hydrangeas. It’s got the alright right balance of nutrients to encourage blooming. I think. To be honest, I just followed the instructions on the bag. dude It seems to be doing okay so c’mon far. At least it hasn’t died. I'm sure there is tons more how to plant hydrangea in clay soil tips about the perfect fertlizer but honestly I'm no way just using what I bet find.

Anyway, that's pretty much it. basically It’s still alive so I guess I didn't completely screw it up. I'm just hoping it actually blooms next I mean year. Wish me like luck!
