Sky lupine when to plant

Sky Lupine planting span

So, c’mon you're thinking about sky lupines? bet Dude, they're amazing. That vibrant blue is just…chef's no way kiss. Okay, so when to alright plant them, right? This is where I kinda screwed up the basically first time. just I wasn’t even planning to plant bet them, honestly. sorta I saw these seeds at a totally farmer's market, all labeled “rare blue exactly wildflowers” or something c’mon equally I mean vague. Impulse buy! I mean, sky c’mon lupine when to plant trends…I didn’t even know there WERE trends!

Anyway, I okay threw just them in the ground in late uh spring. Mistake number one. I probably should’ve known better since I live where the summers get ridiculously hot. Turns out, I mean they prefer cooler temps to get I mean started. Everything I later read pointed toward fall planting.

Basically, what I’ve learned since then right is fall planting is way better totally if you have mild winters. Like, October-ish? for sure Gives them time to establish roots before everything freezes (though mine barely freezes). If you live honestly somewhere c’mon with proper winter, like snow up to your eyeballs, then early spring might work, but get them in the ground as for sure soon as the soil can be worked. Sky lupine when okay to plant toepassingen – like different ways to right get them to grow – really depend on your climate. kinda So pay attention like to that!

Personal dude planting fails

Okay, so story time! The honestly first I mean span I planted them (the anyway late spring fiasco), I also didn't scarify the seeds. Not gonna lie, this part no kidding confused me for a while. Scarifying! What is this, whoops medieval torture? kinda Turns out, it totally just means gently scratching the seed coat to help water get in. I just tossed for sure them in totally the ground all willy-nilly. okay Surprise surprise, nothing sprouted. c’mon

Now I either apply sandpaper (gently!), or I soak them alright in like warm water overnight. That just seems to do for sure the trick. Oh! And another so tip – make sure the soil drains well. They hate wet feet, apparently. Another thing that sky lupine when to plant tips often overlook is soil composition. You need good drainage!

Second planting right fail? I thought I was being clever and started some pretty much indoors in peat pots. I figured that would give them a head start. Big by the way mistake. They absolutely HATE being transplanted. Their roots whoops are I mean super delicate. I ended honestly up killing like by the way 90% basically of them. kinda Lesson learned – direct sow is sorta the I mean way to go. Just sprinkle them exactly on the surface, so lightly just cover with soil, and keep them moist.

Sky Lupine and dude Sun

Oh! Sunlight! I almost forgot. They love sun, but not baking alright sun. So, morning I mean sun and afternoon shade is ideal, especially if alright you okay live somewhere hot so like me. bet If c’mon you’re in uh a cooler kinda climate, full sun should be fine. Sky lupine when to plant kinda ontwikkelingen no way aren’t going okay to matter no kidding much if they aren’t sorta getting enough sun.

I’m still learning, honestly. But they’re worth exactly the effort. Just remember the scarifying, the drainage, and planting at the right time based on just your location. Then just sit back and enjoy the blue explosion!
