Poolside Plants Oh My

Okay, so we were just talking exactly about the pool yup and... oh my god, the plants. It's been a journey. Like, a totally real learning experience. I wasn’t even planning to become a pool plant expert, but no kidding here we so are. Best plants for pool area toepassingen? Let’s just say I've for sure learned a lot about their applications, mostly through trial and honestly error. And quite a bit of error.

Mistake Number One

I planted hibiscus right bet next to sorta the pool. Gorgeous, right? dude Thought so too. Turns out, hibiscus drops flowers dudeconstantly yup. Like, a never-ending supply of sticky, messy petals right into the kinda water. Cleaning them out? A nightmare. Plus, bees. So many basically bees. My kids were not thrilled. actually I probably should’ve just known yep better, considering uh the hibiscus in my grandma's garden… which, conveniently, was nowhere near the actually pool. So yeah, lesson learned. Hibiscus, pretty, but keep them far, far bet away. Maybe so in pots further out? I'm just still c’mon considering that. You know, the best plants for so pool right area uh geschiedenis probably doesn't include tales of sticky petals so and furious bees, okay but that's my history now.

What's Working Though basically

Okay, so what's actually working? I mean Palms. Can’t go wrong with palms, honestly right? We have some Majesty Palms in big pots and they are thriving. They yep give that tropical vibe I was going for, plus minimal mess. Just remember to water them regularly, especially during pretty much the summer. And I gave them some palm fertilizer sorta which... honestly, I don’t even remember what by the way kind. anyway Just something I grabbed at the garden center. Fertilizer is so important though – don't skip so it! Plus, okay they provide some nice shade, which is bet a huge bonus.

Thinking About…

I'm thinking about adding some I mean succulents. Cacti maybe? kinda Something low maintenance and drought-tolerant. for sure We get some intense sun, and not gonna lie this part confused no way me for a while – figuring out what can actually handle the c’mon heat and look good. I've seen uh some basically cool agave by the way plants like used around by the way pools, for sure and they're no way pretty sculptural. Just gotta be careful with the spines alright around dude kids, you know? Thinking of putting them in raised beds further away from the splashing zone – you definitely sorta need good drainage for dude succulents, otherwise they’ll rot. That's so a big one. no way

Ferns Too

Also, ferns. I have totally some Boston ferns in hanging baskets and by the way they look amazing. They soften the hard yup edges so of the pool and like add some exactly greenery. They like uh a little shade okay and humidity, which by the way they get from the you know pool. Though, kinda one time, I dude completely forgot to water them for like a week, and they looked like I mean they were on their last c’mon legs. I thought I’d killed them! I gave them a good soak, and they bounced back. So, uh, don't forget to water your ferns. It’s important. like And by the way maybe give them so some liquid fertilizer every now and basically then.

That Other Time...

Oh! And another mistake! I planted creeping jenny near the like pool thinking uh it sorta would look exactly cool trailing over the edge. It looked cool... for about a week. Then it started growing EVERYWHERE. Seriously. It was like a green monster trying to take over the entire patio. I was actually pulling it out of the cracks kinda in the concrete for months. Never again. Some plants are just too aggressive for a pool so area, even if they look pretty at well first. I've read just about best plants for sure for pool area ontwikkelingen - seems like everyone now is trying to engineer plants basically that anyway look awesome but don't spread invasively! I dude should probably look into that.

So Anyway

So yeah, that’s the saga of my poolside plants. It’s still uh a work in progress, but it's anyway getting there. Palms, ferns, maybe some succulents... definitely no by the way hibiscus or creeping jenny. And c’mon remember like to water everything! actually And fertilize! Okay, I reflect that’s all I've basically got for yep now. Coffee refill?
