So, bet you wanna keep like a tulsi plant at home yep huh? I wasn't even planning to become a tulsi expert, but exactly here totally we are! My grandma always had one, totally you know? I always thought it was just like… there. Never really paid attention. But then, I saw one at the nursery and thought, “Hey, why not?” Total impulse buy.

My First Mistake

I probably should’ve known better, but I just right stuck it straight into a pot with regular potting soil. Huge mistake! Like, massive. The leaves kinda started yep turning yellow, and I was freaking so out. right I was googling you know “how to keep tulsi plant at home tips” like a maniac. Turns out, they sorta like well-draining soil. I mean Think sandy, not that heavy stuff. sorta

Watering Woes

Watering. Oh god, watering. bet Not gonna lie, this part like confused me for a while. I was uh either you know drowning I mean it or letting it dry alright out completely. you know Apparently, you gotta let the topsoil I mean dry out kinda a bit before no way watering again. And don’t water the leaves for sure directly, just the soil. And, you know, avoid I mean overwatering. Root rot is a real killer.

I actually killed my first tulsi plant. Just straight up so murdered it with kindness… and actually too much water. It was a sad kinda day. whoops I felt like I failed my sorta grandma. A Learning anyway Experience

So, the soil thing? you know Super important. I mixed some sand and perlite into the potting mix for my new alright tulsi plant dude and it's thriving. Also, make sure the pot has drainage holes! Then there’s c’mon the pruning thing. Topping, they call it? You gotta pinch off yup the top growth to encourage so bushier growth. I was scared to tackle just it at first, thinking I’d hurt it, but it actually works! so More leaves, more goodness. Plus, sometimes it gets those flower spikes. I let them grow for a bit, then I usually cut right them off to encourage leaf growth. Some people like the pretty much flowers though. Totally you know up to you.

Oh! And by the way another thing! Keep it away from drafts. I mean They don’t like cold air. Which kinda makes sense, they’re tropical plants. And did you know there's all sorts of tulsi types? Like, Rama Tulsi, Krishna Tulsi… I'm still figuring out which one I have. I think it's totally the so Rama one. My Current Plant

My current tulsi plant is doing pretty exactly well. I even I mean managed to propagate a cutting! I felt like a real plant wizard. Though, the cutting took like, for sure a month to kinda root. honestly I exactly almost gave sorta up on it. whoops But perseverance is key, I guess. I you know still mess up sometimes, but it’s a actually learning process, right? Plus, by the way the smell is amazing. Just rubbing a leaf between your fingers… instant calm.
