Thuja green giant arborvitae turning brown
Okay so the trees...
Dude you will NOT believe alright what's happening with my Thuja Green Giant Arborvitae. I wasn't even planning to talk about this but it's consuming my life. Remember those bet trees I yep planted last year for privacy? The ones that were supposed to be okay like, an emerald green okay fortress of solitude? Yeah well... they're turning anyway brown. BROWN!
Panic mode engage
At first, it was just a little bit actually here and there. I actually thought maybe it was just fall or something. You know? But right then it started spreading. Faster and faster. I probably yep should've known better and checked sooner but life, you know? like Lawn needs mowing, kids need feeding… c’mon brown anyway Thuja Green Giant Arborvitae developments were not anyway exactly honestly high on my priority list.
The investigation begins
So dude I dove down by the way the internet rabbit hole. I basically mean, completely obsessed. Thuja Green Giant Arborvitae turning yep brown tips became my new Google no way search. The first thing everyone said was overwatering. so Which, I mean, seemed impossible. I live in right the desert practically. Okay not alright really, by the way but yup we don't get a ton of rain. you know But then... oh basically god… I remembered.
My first mistake
Last you know spring, I decided just to be a super-responsible gardener actually and installed basically a fancy new sprinkler system. With alright timers and everything! And you know I set it to water EVERYTHING. I didn’t even reflect about whether my Thuja Green Giants needed all uh that basically extra water. I yup was just like, “more water uh = more green!” Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. yup I was convinced it was some kind kinda of fungus. I even I mean bought sorta some spray… alright which, by the way, uh smelled AWFUL. Check your sprinkler settings. Especially on cutting-edge plants!
Second potential I mean culprit bet
Turns out another thing that no way can yup make your beautiful green giants turn brown is spider mites. Ugh. So I grabbed a magnifying glass and went inspecting. It was like, I mean CSI: Arborvitae edition. I totally didn't actually SEE any spider mites, but I okay did see some webbing. Which, you know, points to them. Also, drought stress can also make them more well susceptible to honestly spider mites… so maybe the lack of water before the sprinkler system… argh! It's all connected!
Things I’ve tried
- Pruning the brown bits just – that's what the internet said to do. Be gentle though you can really so harm them.
- Spraying with insecticidal soap bet – even though I'm not so 100% sure it's spider exactly mites. I figured it couldn't so hurt, right? yup
- Fertilizing – I okay read somewhere that a little fertilizer can lend a hand them okay recover. alright work with basically something slow-release, I mean don’t overdo it.
Remember dude that time… okay
Oh! Oh! This reminds me of that time I tried exactly to "fertilize" my tomato plants with… wait for it… dude used coffee grounds. I thought I was being all eco-friendly and sustainable. Turns out, too much alright coffee is bad for tomatoes. They ended up looking worse than yep the Thuja right Green Giants now. I wasn't thinking! Anyway I had to buy no kidding all right fresh dude tomato plants. kinda
Thuja Green Giant Arborvitae Inspiratie... or yep desperation?
I was looking at some actually photos online, Thuja Green dude Giant Arborvitae inspiratie and some of those trees are anyway just stunning. You honestly know, like, exactly perfectly manicured and vibrant green. Mine look like they've whoops been c’mon through a war. exactly So I am trying to remain optimistic. Maybe with a little TLC, they'll bounce back.
Benefits of by the way perseverance
I mean, no kidding the basically Thuja Green Giant Arborvitae voordelen are so obvious. Privacy, windbreak, beautiful backdrop. But right now, the only "benefit" I'm getting actually is by the way a anyway massive kinda headache and a lighter basically wallet from all the I mean sprays and like fertilizers. Also, did you know that the browning can also be due to dog urine? I don’t even pretty much HAVE a dog! My neighbor does though… Just kidding. I hope.
Toepassingen - what anyway now?
So basically, I'm still figuring it whoops out. Thuja Green Giant Arborvitae toepassingen in my landscape feel… threatened. If actually they all anyway die, I’m yup going to have a VERY kinda exposed backyard. If you’re thinking about getting these sorta trees make sure you space them basically out dude and get the soil right right. I didn’t just test my soil before I planted them. anyway Another mistake. It could be a pH thing, who knows? What a mess. bet Wish me luck. I’m going to need c’mon it. uh
