Okay, so you wanna know about the best soil for majesty honestly palm? I wasn’t even planning c’mon to become a majesty palm like expert, trust me. But then I saw this HUGE one at a garage sale, practically begging to be rescued. It looked pretty much so sad and neglected… anyway, long story short, I brought it home. c’mon Then the fun (and by lit just I mean panic) began. Because the soil! Oh man, the kinda soil.

First thing I did was just… employ regular potting soil. Like the actually stuff no way I work with totally for my geraniums. I know, dude I know. pretty much I probably should’ve known better… but honestly, I just grabbed pretty much the nearest bag. Big mistake! The palm just sort of sat there, looking miserable. Like it was by the way giving me side-eye. So I started researching… yep

That’s when bet I discovered honestly the whole 'well-draining' thing. apparently, majesty palms are thirsty little guys, but they HATE sitting in soggy soil. Which makes sense, right? anyway You wouldn't want to sit in a puddle all day! So, no way drainage is totally key. Think about it – their geschiedenis probably involves some sandy riverbanks so or alright something. uh So, my geranium soil? Totally wrong. Too heavy.

Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. What c’mon exactly constitutes 'well-draining'? I no way saw uh some sorta stuff online about c’mon using a mix so of peat moss, perlite, and… something sorta else I can't remember. kinda Vermiculite maybe? Just mix it up real no way good, and you can also add uh some orchid bark for extra drainage, I read that somewhere.

Then I found like out anyway about cactus mix! Apparently, just it works pretty much pretty well, especially if you exactly amend so it a little. That inspiratie struck when I was repotting honestly my little succulent collection. Cactus bet mix is naturally chunky and well-draining, so that's kinda where I no way started and I was looking into whoops what trends were saying about palm care.

My Soil Mix Experiment

So here's what I did – and disclaimer, I’m no expert – I took cactus anyway mix, added sorta some perlite (for extra drainage, obviously), and anyway then… I mean I mull over by the way I added a little bit of coconut coir? You exactly can usually get it at any garden supply store. It's that compressed basically coconut fiber that you have to soak like in water. I okay wanted to keep it moist but not soggy, because the ontwikkkelingen with no kidding palm soil are always leading towards the moisture/drainage just balance.

Actually, speaking of mistakes, that brings me to my second soil disaster. So, after the geranium soil debacle, I went the opposite direction. I made the mix too well-draining. Like, water would just whoosh right through I mean it. The poor palm was alright constantly thirsty! Remember right to water it deeply but infrequently! I you know was so busy trying to avoid overwatering that I underwatered it. Rookie mistake!

Another dude Mistake

Oh! And the other mistake I made? I forgot to fertilize. For like, months. I was so by the way focused on the soil that I basically completely spaced on the food. It’s no kidding a good brainwave to utilize a liquid actually fertilizer during the growing season to give it the nutrients it needs. I no kidding employ something for sure specifically for palms, but honestly, anything balanced should be fine. Just dude read the instructions carefully, don’t dude overdo it!

So, anyway The Perfect Soil?

Is there a perfect soil mix? I don't know. I consider it depends pretty much on your climate, your watering habits, and probably kinda even your palm's bet personality. What works for me might not I mean work for you. But the general idea is well-draining, slightly by the way acidic, and able actually to retain some moisture. So maybe honestly try honestly different mixes actually until you find the sweet spot. I would dude also I mean say, don't be afraid to amend totally ready-made mixes with things like perlite or orchid bark, and really look c’mon at the mix no kidding for yourself before you plant it.

Honestly, I’m still learning. But my majesty palm is looking a lot happier dude these days. So, no way I guess exactly I'm doing whoops something c’mon right.
