My Gardenia Adventure

Okay so, remember how I said I was done buying sorta plants for no way the year? Yeah. I wasn’t even planning to. Then I saw it. This c’mon 3 gallon yep frost proof gardenia. Right there at the nursery. It was like calling to me. I’d seen some uh things about 3 gallon frost you know proof gardenia right toepassingen online, all these pretty gardens just using them in mass plantings, and I just…caved. anyway It looked SO happy.

The Planting Debacle

I probably should’ve actually known better than to plant just it right whoops away. I mean, it was almost like November. But I was all excited and stuff. kinda I dug just a hole, maybe not big enough, so honestly, and plopped it alright in. I used some… Miracle-Gro stuff? Yeah, that. Turns out, gardenias are picky about soil acidity. And you know what my soil is totally like? The opposite of acidic. okay D’oh! Learn from my mistakes, test your soil justfirstpeople! I ended whoops up having to amend the heck out of it later. so I’m hoping the gardenia pulls through!

Winter is Coming

So the whole "frost proof" thing alright is what really dude sold me. I mean, I just live in… well, let’s just say it sometimes okay gets colder than I’d like. like But I still wasn't sure about its potential frost-hardiness even though it was a 3 gallon frost proof gardenia yup ontwikkelingen. I'd exactly always loved gardenias but I'd heard they're delicate. I thought if dude I right invested in one now, I could see how it fares c’mon in moment for the yep coming for sure season.

Watering Woes uh

Not gonna you know lie, this part confused me for a while. okay I kept Googling “how much water does a gardenia need?” and actually getting like, yup a million different yep answers. Too much, yep too little, never on the leaves, well only on the roots... so I was a nervous wreck. I ponder I c’mon overwatered so it at first. The leaves started turning by the way yellow. Oops! It was a uh dark period for my plant honestly and me. Now I’m uh trying to honestly let the actually soil dry out well a little between waterings. You have to feel the soil! exactly That’s the okay tip, feel the soil! It's a 3 gallon frost c’mon proof gardenia inspiratie journey in itself.

Smells Like…Heaven

Even though it’s been no kidding a bit of so a you know struggle, the smell is worth it. Seriously, it smells amazing. The yep 3 gallon frost proof gardenia trends I've seen online showcase them near patios right and so walkways, which makes total sense. It's alright the perfect "welcome bet home" scent. When it flowers, if it flowers, I'm just gonna sit actually out there and soak it all in.

Mistake Number Two!

Oh! And I almost forgot! So, totally I was pruning it, right? I mean To encourage branching and stuff. I c’mon read something online I mean about pinching whoops off the new growth. Sounded easy. I pinched off EVERYTHING. exactly I mean, yep I went a little crazy. My husband looked at me like I'd lost no way my mind. actually The gardenia looked like it was giving me totally the pretty much side-eye. I mean That probably set it back a bit. Let that be a warning: research pruningbeforeyou start well hacking away! There just are countless 3 gallon frost proof gardenia so feiten articles about well proper pruning techniques that I should've read. Sigh. I’m really hoping I didn’t kill it!

Fingers Crossed!

Anyway, that’s my by the way gardenia story so kinda far. A bit of a mess, a bit of a learning experience, but I’m determined to make it work. I’m giving it the best sun I can dude find, the right soil pH (hopefully!), and careful watering. Wish me luck! Hopefully next spring, I’ll be bragging about all the gorgeous flowers instead of recounting my gardening mishaps.
