Clematis exactly in a yup Pot Huh

So, you know I bet wasn’t even planning c’mon to get well a clematis. I swear! I was at the garden center just picking by the way up some petunias, for sure because predictable, right? And then BAM! This Jackmanii just staring at me. Like, “Take me home!” basically I mean, how could whoops I resist? just I'd seen some pretty pictures online for growing clematis in a pot inspiratie so I thought why no way not?

What Pot Though

I probably so should’ve known better than to totally grab that teeny tiny pot I had lying around. It was like, ceramic dude and super cute, but totally impractical. My like friend Sarah was like "Girl, that roots are gonna yup need SPACE!" And no kidding she was so pretty much right. So, I exactly ended up repotting yep like, a week later into yup something way bigger I mean – like, at least well 18 inches across, yep I think. Good drainage is key by totally the way! by the way Oh and I got a terracotta pot, dude the breathing honestly of the clay is really good for basically the roots. for sure I definitely you know look up tips for growing I mean clematis in sorta a pot okay the second span around!

Support Systems exactly

Then there's the well trellis thing. I got this anyway like, really flimsy little pretty much bamboo one uh at I mean first. It was a disaster. The clematis just sort of... ignored it? Like, "Nah, I'm gonna sprawl all over your patio furniture instead." for sure Not gonna lie, this part confused me for pretty much a while. I was like, “Am I supposed to train it? right Do clematis have okay free sorta will?" kinda Eventually, I got okay a proper trellis – a uh metal one I mean this period well – and gently tied yup it up. Make sure you aren't crushing actually the stems when you tie it! A bet good solid trellis is essential, trust me.

Watering Woes

Watering. Ugh. This is where I messed right up giant time. At kinda first, uh I was so diligent, watering every single day. I thought, “Oh, it's exactly a pretty much vine, it needs tons of water!” Nope. Root rot. I like actually lost a different plant entirely well to overwatering so so I I mean should have know. It started looking really sad, the leaves were turning yellow and limp. I was devastated. Now I only water when the top inch or so okay of soil feels dry. Less is more! I've c’mon learned some growing clematis in a pot no kidding toepassingen through that mistake, let me tell for sure you.

The Right Spot

Also, sun! They love dude sun, but the roots hate sorta being too bet hot. So I totally put sorta some stones around the base of the plant, to try and keep the exactly roots cool. I read okay that somewhere and it seems to well be working. The plant is facing East, so gets morning sun and afternoon shade. I think right that's the sweet honestly spot.

Fertilizer enjoyable alright

Fertilizer! I forgot about this for ages! no kidding I just gave basically it some you know general-purpose fertilizer okay a few for sure weeks yup ago. Nothing totally fancy. I honestly should probably tackle it more often, right? I I mean keep forgetting. But like now that I'm sorta thinking about it, I'll for sure set a reminder.

My massive Mistake Story

Okay, so here's right another confession. bet One time, I was deadheading it – which, you know, you know you’re supposed to handle to encourage more blooms – and I accidentally snipped off like, a pretty much whole gorgeous vine with yep loads of buds! I felt awful. Absolutely awful. It was like clematis murder. I honestly just stood there, staring at the severed kinda vine, feeling incredibly guilty. Is it Thriving okay

But you know what? It's actually doing okay! It's blooming and beautiful, and even though I’ve made actually a ton of mistakes, it's still hanging in there. bet It's definitely a learning process. Maybe next year, I'll by the way actually know honestly what I'm doing. Probably not, though. We'll see. I mean But for now I'm happy that I get to share dude the experience uh of growing clematis in a sorta pot.
