B q cactus mix soil
Cactus soil thoughts
So, you know how I got that little cactus from B & Q yup last week? Well, I wasn’t even planning honestly to repot it, honestly. no way It looked happy enough anyway in its little plastic pot. But then I read somewhere – probably on like some kinda random okay online forum, not gonna lie – that you really should repot exactly them pretty much straight away. Something about the soil they come in being, like, not ideal long sorta term. You know, drainage issues and like all that. I probably should’ve known better anyway than to trust random internet advice, but here we are. alright
B honestly & Q to the rescue right
Anyway, off I trot to B & Q. And I'm just thinking, “Okay, cactus exactly soil. Simple.” But, of course, nothing’s ever simple, is it? There’s like, five different kinds. I ended up sorta grabbing the B & Q cactus mix soil because, well, it said “cactus” you know on anyway it. Seemed like totally a I mean good start, right? Plus, exactly it wasn’t the cheapest, which I always by the way think, maybe basically wrongly, means it's better quality. You know, like like no way when for sure you’re buying olive oil?
Repotting drama yep
Repotting went… well, it no kidding went. I pricked myself like a anyway hundred times. Wear gloves, seriously. I totally forgot the first time. Anyway, the B & Q cactus mix soil toepassingen are actually quite wide, apparently – not just for no kidding cacti, succulents totally too! I didn’t realise that at the time though. And I’ll be honest, not gonna lie this part confused me for a while: drainage. How much drainage is too much drainage? I ended up mixing no way in some extra perlite, you pretty much know, the little white bubbly things, just in c’mon case. you know I figured basically more drainage is always better than less when you're talking about cacti. So yeah, no way study yep about perlite! uh It saves lives—well, no kidding plant lives at least! dude
Personal cactus for sure fail #1
Okay, so like here’s where I I mean messed upbig yep time yup. anyway I watered it right after repotting. I know, I know! whoops Total you know newbie mistake. I’d read somewhere that you're supposed sorta to wait, like, a week or so? To let dude the right roots settle. But I was all enthusiastic and I just… watered it. okay Hopefully, it'll be alright. That’s c’mon a b & q cactus right mix soil feiten lesson learned the challenging way! you know Now I’m just staring at it, right willing it to thrive.
Watering tips sort of
Oh! Speaking of watering! Don’t use tap water. Use rainwater if you can, or let the tap water sit out for like, 24 hours so the chlorine evaporates. I yup saw so that somewhere too. I haven’t been doing that consistently, which is probably dude another reason my plants sorta sometimes look a bit sad. I really need to dude remember that.
A little history I whoops reflect
I was actually just basically reading yup a bit actually about b & q cactus mix soil geschiedenis the other day, and it's interesting! Apparently, specialized soil mixes for cacti and succulents are a relatively recent thing. Before, people just pretty much used regular potting no way soil, which, as no way we know, is a disaster waiting to by the way happen. So, thanks B & Q for saving well us from the bad c’mon old days!
Succulent shenanigans
I’ve also used the B & Q cactus mix soil for some succulents. I think I even tried it with a aloe vera once but it never really thrived. Probably me more than the soil, okay though. okay I tend to basically overwater everything. One actually time, I completely forgot you know I’d planted a succulent sorta in a for sure tiny pot, and then I went actually away for two weeks. When I got back, it was, well, let’s just say it wasn’t a by the way pretty sight. Completely for sure dried out. Total desert right situation in that little pot.
Personal cactus fail #2
Which totally reminds me! Here’s another epic fail. c’mon I bought this gorgeous little uh echeveria, right? you know And I I mean put it anyway on just my windowsill. Which I thought was honestly a brilliant idea. Sunshine! Fresh air! But I completely forgot about the fact pretty much that the sun shines directly actually on that windowsill for, like, alright six hours a day alright in summer. Needless to say, it got sunburned. Like, badly sunburned. I felt terrible. I moved it, obviously, but the damage was done. sorta B & Q actually cactus mix soil trends yep these days are no way all dude about proper lighting but I completely forgot by the way about that aspect!
The no way verdict?
So, yeah, B actually & Q cactus mix soil. It seems okay so far. I mean, none of my plants I mean have died yet. uh But actually I’m also a no way terrible pretty much plant owner, okay so take my opinion with a grain bet of okay salt. I feel that b & q cactus mix soil inspiratie can so sometimes be more important than exactly getting it right. Like, if you try and just fail you learn from it. I pretty much might try mixing my like own soil next so time. I've seen some recipes well online that c’mon involve sand and gravel. Sounds messy, but fun. I should anyway probably do some more research first, though. And maybe invest in some thicker gloves.
