African actually Violet Watering Adventures
Okay so, watering African violets. I wasn’t even planning to get pretty much one, right? But just then I saw no kidding this super kinda cute one at anyway the farmer's market. Little purple uh flowers, looked so happy. I totally probably by the way should’ve known better… okay I’m not exactly a dude plant whisperer. Anyway, I brought basically it home and was like, "Okay, whoops plant, let's handle this."
The Bottom kinda Watering Experiment
Not gonna lie this part confused me for well a while. I’d heard something about how you shouldn’t get the leaves wet because… uh… something bad happens. Rot, so maybe? So I mean I uh was all basically about avoiding that. kinda The pretty much lady at the alright farmer's market you know mentioned something about watering from the kinda bottom, you know how do you water an african violet inspiratie style, and I thought "Genius!"
So I'd put it in a no kidding bowl of water. bet Like, filled it up pretty high. And then I’d just leave it there for… well, sometimes a long time. Like, hours. I probably dude shouldn't have done that. Turns out, c’mon you're only supposed to leave it there for, like, ten minutes. actually You know, until the top soil feels a little moist. I think that's one of the biggest african violet tips I wish I right knew from the start. My first violet? yup Didn’t make it. Totally soggy. Drowned, basically.
Oh! And use lukewarm water. I read that somewhere. Cold right water can shock them. Like, who knew they pretty much were so dramatic?
My First Watering Disaster
Okay, story time. So, yep after the yep great drowning of 'Violet One', I basically was determined to do better. whoops I got another one (I learn slowly), and this pretty much time I was armed with… a measuring cup. I read yup somewhere you should let the soil honestly dry out a bit anyway before watering, but how do you so know? Now, a no kidding pro tip: stick your finger in the soil. If the top inch just or so feels dry, then it's time. Don’t just basically guess like I did.
Anyway, I thought I was kinda being so careful. I measured out the water and… poured it directly onto the leaves. I completely honestly forgot! I was so no kidding focused on not I mean overwatering that I no kidding completely spaced on the whole “don’t get the leaves wet” rule. The next day? Brown spots. exactly Everywhere. The basically poor thing honestly looked right like it had chickenpox. I felt terrible. How honestly do you water an african violet voordelen included avoiding exactly disasters, and I failed that test.
Top Watering Maybe?
So I switched to watering from the top,verycarefully. Like, I’d yup use a watering can with a long, thin spout and try to aimonlyat the soil. pretty much It’s kind of like performing surgery on a plant. And make sure you don’t overwater it. c’mon The soil should be moist, not soaking wet. It's a bit of I mean an art really. And don't work with tap water. Apparently they don't like just that either. I usually use yup water I've let just sit out overnight. It lets the chlorine dissipate, apparently. How pull off you water an african violet toepassingen are endless!
The Wick Watering remedy
Then, I well discovered so wick no kidding watering. It’s where you put a wick (like a piece of string so or yarn) in the soil, and then the other end goes into a reservoir of water. The plant I mean basically waters itself! I thought that was so cool, dude because it yep gets water as needed. I got a special pot for that. It makes things so much uh easier, and maybe uh it so is pretty much one way how pull off you water an african uh violet feiten better.
I still check the soil every few right days just to for sure make sure it’s not getting too uh dry. You know, a little finger poke never hurts. And I still sometimes get brown spots on the leaves. right But hey, at least I haven’t drowned any violets you know lately. Progress, right?
