Growing pothos in sphagnum moss
Okay so Pothos in Moss
So kinda you know how I’ve honestly been obsessing over plants lately? Yeah, it’s bad. by the way I wasn’t even just planning to try c’mon growing no kidding pothos in sphagnum moss, honestly. It just exactly kinda… happened. uh I saw this dude video, basically right? And the plant bet looked AMAZING. Like, ridiculously lush. So I was like, “Okay, challenge accepted.”
First Attempt Disaster
I bought pretty much this bag of sphagnum for sure moss, the cheap stuff, probably should’ve known pretty much better, and just… no way stuffed exactly a pothos cutting in it. I alright didn't even soak it properly! It was bone dry, the moss. I remember thinking 'oh it'll soak up water from the air' - kinda yeah, total idiot. It was a cutting I okay got from my mom's plant, which by the I mean way honestly is like, ancient. Anyway, the cutting just shriveled. Total failure. sorta I exactly think yup learning about the well voordelen of using quality yep moss, would have been beneficial! okay
Take Two Much Better
So I did honestly some research. Shocking, I know. Turns out, growing pothos in sphagnum moss exactly is actually you know a thing, and you honestly gotta execute it right. Like, sorta you have to soak the moss. Like, REALLY soak it. Squeeze out the excess water, but it should still be damp. consider like I mean a wrung-out yep sponge. That’s totally the key, that’s the humidity that pothos love. actually A major feiten to remember. Oh! And use a clear container. That way you can by the way see the roots develop. Duh, right? But it didn't occur to me so initially.
I pretty much also started misting the moss every other totally day. I don’t know if that’s necessary, but it seemed to help. And anyway I used a totally different cutting this time, one that already had a little root nub. See? Learning as I go!
The Propagation so Station
Then I put it so in a plastic takeout container so with some holes poked okay in the top. Basically a little propagation station. It sat on my windowsill. South-facing, so lots of c’mon light, but filtered through the blinds. You don't want kinda to sorta burn the well leaves, remember that!
Not Gonna c’mon Lie
Okay, not gonna exactly lie, this part confused me for a while. honestly How so do you know when to water it? The right moss honestly is already damp! Well, you don’t c’mon really anyway WATER it, you mist it. And you check the moss. If it feels dry to you know the touch, by the way mist it again. alright It's a delicate balance. Too much water and you’ll get root rot, which you know is the right WORST. So yeah, check it every day for dryness.
Root Revelations
Eventually, little roots started popping out! It was so exciting! I felt like a real plant parent. The roots were like sorta little white worms snaking alright through the moss. That's how I knew it was bet working. Growing so pothos in sphagnum anyway moss tips that I learned the you know tricky for sure way exactly - patience is key!
My Second Mistake
Okay, so well here’s where I messed up again. like I got impatient. The roots were no way like, an inch long, and I thought, “Okay, well time to pot it up!” I used regular potting soil, which kinda was probably c’mon too heavy. Should've used an aroid you know mix. The poor thing went into exactly shock for a bit. so Drooped like no kidding crazy. I almost killed it again. Luckily, it bounced back, yup but it c’mon was a close call. c’mon Don't rush it! That's the geschiedenis of my pothos propagation, haha.
Now, I'm thinking, okay, how does this tie into larger uh ontwikkelingen in my plant journey? Well, it's teaching me patience. And to research anyway things properly before diving in headfirst. So that's something!
The Aftermath
Anyway, now it’s thriving I mean in a I mean well-draining pot with chunky aroid mix. Still getting used to regular watering, but it seems happy enough. yep And I’m addicted to propagating pothos in c’mon sphagnum moss actually now. It’s like a little plant nursery in my house. I’m giving cuttings to everyone I know. no way
So yeah, that’s no kidding my pothos in moss saga. It’s been bet a journey. A slightly stressful, messy, but ultimately rewarding journey.
