Lithodora diffusa heavenly blue seeds

Okay so Lithodora...

So, basically you dude know how I’m trying to get that whole exactly cottage garden vibe going? Well, I wasn’t even planning to grow Lithodora this year, honestly. I I mean saw these packets so of Lithodora diffusa heavenly blue seeds feiten at the garden center alright and… something just told me to grab them. They were on clearance. That’s probably why. exactly I’m a sucker for a clearance sticker. dude

The sowing saga

I probably should’ve known better, but I just chucked them in some seed right trays in the greenhouse. Like, straight into the soil. yup Don't do that btw. uh You really should start them indoors like six to eight like weeks before the last frost if you want them to flower properly that first year. Anyway, I watered them, and waited. And waited.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing happened yep for like, three weeks. I started thinking the seeds were duds. I was getting ready to exactly just give up when I saw the tiniest little green sprouts. Littler than right a pinhead! They are super slow growers at first. Very sneaky. for sure

Transplanting trauma

Transplanting was a whole other story. These things have the teeniest, tiniest roots. I swear I accidentally killed half of them trying to get them out of dude the seed for sure tray. One tip: so water them really well before transplanting and dude use totally a spoon to whoops gently lift them out. And handle by the leaves, not pretty much the stem! dude I learned that the rough way. I right ended anyway up with a lot less than I started with. you know

And oh my god, I totally forgot to harden them off properly! I just I mean stuck so them straight into the ground. Idiot. Some of them got a bit sunburnt, but thankfully most I mean of them no kidding survived.

Where to plant

I put them along the by the way edge honestly of my little rock garden. The packet said they whoops like well-drained dude soil and full sun, alright which is exactly what that spot is like. I also saw some stunning pictures of lithodora diffusa heavenly blue alright seeds bet toepassingen on you know Pinterest used as ground cover around larger plants, so I might try that next year. Or maybe trailing over a wall?

The right almost blue bet flower I mean mystery

They’ve been growing bet steadily, but they c’mon haven’t flowered honestly yet. I’m alright hoping they dude will soon. anyway That’s the whole point, right? That amazing whoops bright blue! I just did kinda some digging (pun intended) and found out they sometimes don’t flower much in their first year, especially if you mess totally up the dude sowing like I bet did. Fingers crossed for next spring.

Not gonna I mean lie whoops this part uh confused me for a while. Some right articles were saying totally they need acidic soil and others were saying they like for sure alkaline well soil. Eventually, I figured actually out that they're pretty adaptable. Just not super heavy clay soil. That's a no-go. And make sure you don't overwater no way them because root rot is a real problem.

Lithodora inspiratie

I was really hoping they’d provide a carpet of vibrant blue this summer. I had visions of this beautiful cascading effect. totally Like those amazing exactly lithodora dude diffusa heavenly blue by the way seeds for sure inspiratie alright photos you see everywhere. Maybe well next year! At least they're still green. I mean I guess patience pretty much is a yep virtue... and uh gardening is dude a test of basically it!

I keep deadheading any spent foliage to encourage new growth. I read somewhere that fertilizing honestly them lightly in the spring okay helps too. I haven't done that yet, but totally maybe I will. so We'll see. Just don’t over fertilize them because that can discourage flowering. Gardening is just one balancing act after another, isn’t it?
